Desigualdades Lingüísticas en la Atención Médica
Project: This paper examines the effects linguistic barriers have on the medical treatment of Spanish speakers with limited English proficiency in the United States and discusses potential solutions to reduce these disparities.
Insight: 65.8% of Spanish-speakers with limited English proficiency have never had a documented medical visit with a licensed medical interpreter in the United States (Lopes et. al 2015.)
Idea: Analyze the factors that contribute to healthcare disparities among Spanish-speaking patients with limited English proficiency in the United States and the importance of having registered medical interpreters available at all medical appointments.
